Online Learning Tips

  • Place your child in a quiet learning space with room to move around a desk. Close any blinds behind and make sure the space is well lit.
  • Have a lined white board, dry erase markers (red, blue, black) and eraser available.
  • Log in 5 minutes prior to your session and test your volume, both speakers and microphone.
  • Before class, have your child use the restroom, get a drink of water and/or a quick healthy snack. Make sure your desk is free of toy distractions and avoid eating during class. We like to move and want the kids to remain safe.
  • Log in using one device. You will get an echo or feedback sound if logged in to more than one device.
  • Once you get your child set and class begins, please give them freedom and autonomy to participate in class. After class, your child will come and get you during “check out” or if they need you for technological assistance. We want to give children space to learn and grow without feeling pressure.
  • Encourage them to have fun, bring a story to share and remember that learning doesn’t have to be boring or frustrating. We can do this… together.

Back to School Tips:Establish a Routine: Begin gradually adjusting their sleep and wake-up times to get them back into a school schedule. A consistent routine can help them feel more prepared and confident. Talk About School: Have open conversations about what your Rascals can expect at school. Discuss fun and exciting aspects of school, like making new friends, learning new things, and engaging in fun activities. Healthy Meals: Start preparing healthy meals and snacks for them. A balanced diet can support your Rascal's physical and cognitive development. Limit Screen Time: Gradually reduce screen time as the school year approaches. This will help your kids adjust to a more focused and structured learning environment. (Check out our June Newsletter “Limiting Screen Time” for more information) ... See MoreSee Less
